Casuarina cones are very similar to the alder cones that grow in our region.
They are the fruit of the Casuarina tree, whose native range extends from Southeast Asia to Australia.
In Asia, Casuarina cones have been used in aquaristics for years, as they release important humic substances and tannins into the water!
However, they do not significantly discolor the water.
Due to their rough surface structure, they are the ideal hiding place for baby shrimp.
The cones are 1-2 cm in size.
